Once I got the triangles laid out by color the way I wanted them, the stitching went really fast. Pinning was neccessary to keep them matched up properly. Applique is easy to take along wherever you go and since I am not a perfectionist at all when it comes to applique, I didn't use a layout. I just placed the leaves randomly along the vine.
