Thank you, QuiltnNan! No, I had not thought about alternating the blocks. I believe it would lose its effect if I did. All blocks vertical shows the depth and dimensions better. I did, however, rearrange the blocks to be upright and it looks awful that way. As it stands, this quilt has 2 looks. You can get both looks in the quilt by the way you view it for now. This quilt would also be very pretty done with all solids. Another good idea would be to have each block half-black and half-multi. Sometimes I see Japanese lanterns when I look at it; other times, kites. Yes, I believe the setting squares should all be black and background squares too. There are many ways to set the blocks in various positions that could be interesting! Thank you!!

Kewllllll!! I think the black will make it really shine. You can also turn blocks in alternating directions, see if that makes it even more interesting? Anyway you do it, it will be spectacular.

PS - Just saw that QuiltnNan had the same idea about turning the blocks ... great minds????

Here's what it will look like alternating the blocks horiz. and vert. as suggested by QuiltnNan and MdmSew'N'Sew:

p.s. notice the block in the top right corner on the navy fabric -- it's position was changed from its position in the 2nd pic! The computer switched the position I had it in originally!!! Eeeeewww, I've never had that happen before. Comp is playing weird tricks tonight!
