I really like the colors together. The lights in the Balipop are more yellow than I thought they were but, I think it looks better than if they were a lighter beige. Not as much contrast but it's also not a stark "white and brown" look.
I need to order another Balipop. I wasn't sure how much of it I could do with strips but I found that I can do everything except for the dark of the large triangle and the HST blocks. There are more darks in the Balipop but that's ok too since I need a lot of the all-dark 4-patches.
I ordered 3 or 4 cream batiks a couple of days ago to go with the brown batik yardage I already have.
Wish I didn't have to go to work!!

Not much progress today but I got some things worked out. The center HSTs are slightly too large to use a jelly roll strip in the usual ways of making them but then I remembered Rhonda's Boston Blocks method and that worked good, was able to use little scraps even.
I can't do the larger HSTs until the beige batik yardage I ordered gets here. I got a third of the 4-patch block sections ready to sew together and that's about it.
I really like these colors. :)

This is going to be an expensive quilt! I ordered another Balipop, a 14 FQ set of Ice Tea, four 1yd cuts of creams, and a Tonga Leaf backing. I'm almost positive that this is enough to make the quilt.
This is the FQ set and the backing.

Great pattern! This goes in the "Someday" stack!
And you're doing a fantastic job on it. I love the monochromatic color scheme - it puts the attention on the piecing (where it should be IMO). I can't wait to see the finished product.
