I bought only 100% cotton shirts, plus 1 yd each of two coordinated Hawaiian fabrics they got in at Wal-mart, also 100% cotton. Actually since there is more of those two fabrics than the fabric from any one shirt, it helps tie it together.

Yes, it was a blast accumulating them. We have about six thrift stores here in Sonora, and I would hit them all on my days off!

Love it. Looks like alot of fun to do-shopping for yhose stash shirts and doing that pattern.

I didn't think I would like it when I saw the first picture, but the overall quilt is fabulous. I had to look at where you are located... made sense why you'd have Hawaiian shirts in California. I doubt I could find them here in cold Colorado... maybe flannel shirts. :)
