Where is that mouse?
#54
2 of my 3 kitties bring me dead mice as presents. I always praise them for being good hunters and then throw the mouse away. We don't have a mouse problem in our garage because they will hunt inside there as well as the surrounding countryside. Mine are well fed but both are strays that adopted me and have great prey instinct.
Love the picture of the pointers.

Priceless picture! One of the most surprising things that was mentioned on a PBS show about cats one time is that they are not born hunters. The mother cat has to teach them, or they will not know they are supposed to kill mice. They are attracted to small things that move, though, as a toy, and of course the mouse might not survive the kitties' fun and games. It's a good thing the lid was up, or I'll bet your cats would have tried harder to get up on the shelf, which couldn't have ended well.

Maybe the mouse was too high for them. They did see it though and didn't run away. The first cat I ever had, for all his big brute size and general crankiness, ran away from mice!!! Made me laugh till I cried!

My cat, who I got just for such a service, managed to chase a mouse through the house not willing to "catch" it until the poor little thing fell into the tub. She peeked over the edge to watch it for a few minutes then decided the fun was over and off she went. I had to get a device to lift it out of the tub, it was terrified but unhurt, and I took it out into the field to release it. I know, I'm sure it made it's way back into the warm and "safe" house but I just couldn't kill it.
