June 2014 Pincushion & Needlecase Swap ~ signup closes June 1st

Here is the instructions for the flip flop pincushion.
First I just cut out a simple foot shape about 6 inches long.

Then cut two pieces from your fabric. One for the top and one for the bottom. I made a little tubular piece for the strap but you could use ribbon, cording or anything. I positioned it in place with pins on the top piece and folded the ends under when sewing.

I cut one piece of coordinating fabric 1 1/4" by 17". That will attach the top piece to the bottom piece. Right sides together. Fold under the beginning edge. Sew the strip around the top piece easing in as you go. Sorry about the blurry picture.

Next step is to ease in the bottom piece rights sides together. This is the hardest part. Remember to leave at least an inch open to turn right sides out.

Turn right sides out and stuff. I tack down the toe strap and glue on an embellishment like a flower, button, etc.

I didn't go to any yard sales. They usually only start on Wed. but I went to 2 LQS and got some pincushion patterns and a fat quarter bundle of purples. I also got a Lynette Anderson seasonal sewing project book. Then I went to Harbor Freights as I had a coupon for a free 25 ft x 1" metal tape measure. I thought I could use it for the little snap bags that I make but I didn't realize that 1" was so big. I had been using a 1/2" one. This one is so nice that I hope I get another coupon as I'd hate to cut this one up. And it was a $6.99 value. I also got the carpet blade replacements that you can use in your rotary cutter.
It's 70 now and going down to 52. What a crazy summer. I looked ahead until the end of August and there are more days in the 70's than 80's. OK by me.
Karen good luck in your job tomorrow

Karen thanks for the tute. It is so cute. I have a granddaughter starting to sew and I would love to make one for her. Pat I also love the cooler weather. So shocked at today only 70* tonight 64*. Unreal. Usually the low is higher than todays high. This strange weather for the last couple years has me wondering what is going on?

We are suppose to get your cold front here in Lynn Haven/PC Florida but when they say cold spell that means 80 degrees... and 58 % humidity.. Today we had 93 and 96 % humidity... Had a busy day today, Guild meeting and we had a programs where there were some very old quilts shown, some beautiful hand work... Long meeting and then to the LQS wanted to pick up a charm pack nee to make a purse a Hampton out of that, will be like the one I made last week also am making one out of Green Bay Packard material... May cut them both at the same time just as easy...
Will have material left over from the GBP material as it's 60 inches wide and I couldn't buy any less then a yard, any ideas?... I also went to Joann's and found some chicken material.. LOL Also got backing for several kids quilts, we did get to Starbucks and got home about 4, long day...
