Annie, here is a cool tidbit: His Mom, Doris, was a quilter and a member of the guild in North Syracuse. i lived on the east side for many years but what I would have given to see her! Of course I would have made a complete fool out of myself and she probably would have told me to shut up and leave her to her quilting haha!!

That's a cute story,SusieQ, I would have constantly driven by her house waiting for Richard to come for a visit and maybe get a glimpse of him!

Just saw "Tall in the Saddle" with John Wayne. That must have been a movie during the 1940's . Anyway, there was a fist fight in the movie & the two crashed through a door that went to a bedroom & there was a quilt on the bed. The scene was so fast that it was hard to see but it looked like little squares...maybe about 2 1/2" squares all on the top. Of course it was black & white so don't know the colors of the quilt.
