I have been thinking about using my serger to put my I Spy quilt tops together to save time, since I am doing 5. Has anyone dones this and what are you thoughts on it. Thank you!

I used to work with someone that ONLY used her serger putting quilt tops together. Haha, I don't have one nor know how to use one. But she swore by it.

I made a flannel rail fence with the serger and it was simple.

I haven't used my serger to quilt but have seen straight line piecing done and it looks very nice. A little heavier seam than regular stitching but if that isn't a concern go for it.

Just remember that it may be difficult or impossible to "unsew" and redo a seam.

I haven't used my serger. I did have someone tell me that it makes the seams heavier because of the thread overcasting. That might make a difference on how you would quilt. If you do it, I hope you will let us know how it works.

My concern would be the reliability of getting a ¼" seam and of course ripping out if needed. It would be nice to serge the edges of fabric that ravels but I think I prefer the amount of control I have with my regular machine.
