I am fortunate to have a singer Featherweight machine. Does anyone know what feet came with the 221 Centennial machine. Also could someone post a picture of the feet and their usage? I am not sure what some of them are used for. Thanks.

You can order a manual on the internet. It will tell you what all the original attachments do and how to use them. I have had to order several when I sell a Featherweight that does not have an original with it.

Check out Featherweight221.com. I just took a class from them yesterday. They have so much knowledge of these machines. they recommended a book called The Sewing Machine Attachment Handbook by Charlene Phillips

Any standard short shank attachments or feet will fit a Featherweight. You can buy a 1/4" foot, walking foot or a stitch in the ditch foot which may all be more useful than the attachments that came with the Centennial model Featherweight. My Centennial model has exactly the same attachments as my mom's 1947 model which my daughter has. I have a zipper foot, ruffler, seam guide, foot hemmer, adjustable hemmer, binder, edge stitcher and gatherer. Some dealers also offered a buttonholer or zig zag attachment as a purchase incentive but these were not standard issue. My local thrift store has a box of attachments and sells them for .50 each so that might be a good place to look rather than paying full price from a dealer.

I just checked my book again. The zipper foot was not standard issue. It had to be purchased separately.

I have been watching the vintage machine posts and thought I would check the machine I have in a cabinet, it is a Minnesota Model A. There is a Certificate of Guarantee with an ID number D 2254576 Dated September 8, 1908. There is a cord on the wheel but it is broken so I will need to get a new one. I am going to need to give her a good cleaning. I tried before to get her going but she did not make a stitch that held. What size needles will she need? There is a box of accessories filled with goodies. I am so excited to find out about her.

One more thing about the Minnesota Model A - I found a pkg. of 9 needles in the accessory case. The accessory case is black metal and contains some things I recognize and others which are a mystery. I will try to post pictures later if I can figure out how to do so. All this time I have been sitting on a chapter in history but it took this board to awaken me!
