You guys are always so helpful that I'm hoping you can help me. I want to make my first bag and I have all the fabrics but I didn't buy the rubber type grommets that I saw on the sample at my LQS because I had picked up a few packages from Goodwill for only $1. Now that I look at them I see mine are plastic and the others were rubber. Do you think it's ok to use the plastic ones or will they break? I didn't mention my cheaper ones at the shop but the gal suggested using only one layer of fusible fleece instead of 2. Any advice that can help me? Should I use the plastic ones or should I spend the $12 for the rubber ones. I am making 3 bags so the cost is quite substantial. Thanks.

I've used the plastic on the one I made. They worked fine.
I've heard a few people say they had issues with the thickness on the bags but I didn't have trouble, I made the bag as written. I used this pattern:

I've been making some bags, this is a link to the ones I've been using

    http://www.amazon.com/Prym-Dritz-Cur.../dp/B0016ZZS32

I didnt pay that price though, my Jo-Anns actually had some on clearance last week so I bought some there, but then I was in another Jo-Anns across town and they were not on clearance there, so not sure how they decide whats on clearance where. If you have Jo-Anns coupons you could pickup some that way. They are really easy to use. I had no problems at all and I had never used them before. Be sure to post pics of your projects, we would love to see them.

I used the plastic ones on the my favorite bag pattern, they are a little difficult to snap together with the thicknesses but after its done its just beautiful, well worth the hassle
