I have 22 8 1/2" squares. They are April Cornell colors - pale blues, yellows, pinks, from about 2 or 3 years ago.

I was going to alternate them with a solid block with a heart appliqued on it but decided it looks too juvenile. Want to make a twin size quilt.

Any ideas what I could turn them into? Don't have much left of the fabirc- they were fat quarters that I've cut other small stuff from.

    Thanks!

    Barb

See if I understand you right. They are plain, unpieced, 8½" squares in primary tints? How many of each do you have?

I have 2 of each, 15 colors total. Total of 30 squares (sorry- had 22 laid out on the bed to alternate with the applique ones).

I have other colors that would compliment. When I go home I'll take pics and post them.

Maybe you could take and put a 3''/4'' sashing between each one, and make them into row's of three, and then on the outside, maybe a 5-6'' border.. The 1st block a 3''sashing(left side) sewed to the 1st square, and then a 3'' sashing inbetween the 1st and 2nd block, etc, etc.. Hope this made a little sence.. Don

Something like this, increasing in value from left to right?

Yes, half sq triangles. You can do so many designs with them.

Here are some pics. I am leaning towards the hst. Plus, it will give me some experience.

the colors are prettylight and I have them against a white comforter. Don't know if that helps.

I think (for what it's worth) you are heading in the right direction to add some more color. They did seem pretty light. Contrast is what will give it life. Can't wait to see pictures through the process.

By putting light and dark togather in hqt you get the same effect as a log cabin block.
