DH and I found a Singer FashionMate 362 at a yard sale today. It is in pristine condition, doesn't look as if it had ever been used!! It still had the box the attachments came in and a Singer professional buttonholer, also pristine. It was only $10 for both!

The footpedal looks like brand new, never used. The only thing missing is the owers manual.

Does anyone know about these machines? Are they finiky or easy to use? I think I will let my DD have it for her house and learn (hopefully) to sew someday.

I don't have my camera or I would take a picture. Here is a link to what it looks like.

She is a real workhorse...you got a great machine. If you go to the singer website you can probably download an instruction book.
You shouldn't have any problems with her....they used to sell this kind to the schools.

Some of the Fashion Mates are temperamental; others are not. You'll just have to "test drive" her to find out which she is!

I am currently looking to repair mine for the 1st time in my 18 years of owning mine that i was handed down from my mother. The tension isn't quite right and i think just needs fine tuning, oiled & a little pampering.
She originally bought brand new to mend my dad's holes that he would get from working. It is a very strong machine. Simple to use. I would love to have a second one just to have as back up. I am very attached to the one i have

If you lived near me, I would gladly give it to you. I have way more machines than I will ever use.

I brought a fashion mate back in 1975/1976. I learned to sew on it. Had it until 10 yrs ago when DD was learning to quilt and she broke it.
