I want to THANK everyone who encouraged me and assured me that it was possible to make something out of the grab bag of strips that I got from my guild. The charity quilt is coming right along. See...

I have more to do...the white sashing will continue around as a border...then I am going to try to come up with fabric for a one inch border and then a four inch border.

There are no more strips to use, and I haven't even ironed the horizontal strips that I just added, but I am confident that I can be happy with the results now. (The only fabric I added so far is the white.)

Any suggestions on what I might try for borders? I was thinking I might try to find a blue that worked for the small one and then a red for the larger one. ??

Again, thanks for walking me through when I was convinced I wanted to quit!!

You've got a really nice quilt .... crisp, clean and fresh look to it.

Do you have to make it bigger? You could stay where you are.

What do you have left in your grab bag? Some thoughts ... join the strips together and then cut like piano keys for the narrow border. Then some more white and then likewise for the outer larger border but with larger pieces.

If you're using fabric from your stash, use some of the grab bag fabrics and make the same strip blocks to put on the corner s of the borders, to tie the inner and outer together.

And then bind it all off with a scrappy binding made with more of the grab bag fabrics.

I like the very dark blue for the inner border and a blender red or medium blue blender for the outer border - not a print or a solid. Then the binding can be any bright print that's available or a strip made by sewing leftovers end to end. Nice job!

Are you going to put a colored border around the white? If you don't have a white border, I would put one. Then the other colors. Nothing too busy, as it will distract from your beautiful quilt! Very nice!

Ditto QuiltE! That's exactly how I see finishing it. Even with diagonals. Definitely bind that way too. Would be gorgeous!
