wellllll it might be one of the reasons they say not to sew over pins! I'm always afraid of breaking a needle tho!

I sew over silk pins all the time....but I slow the machine to go over them.

I really like the quilt in your avatar picture. It looks like a maple leaf with a heart in the center. Is that right? It is lovely.
