Default Mid arm vs long arm

What sizes of throat space distinguish a mid arm from a long arm?

I would call a long arm 18" and above, but I'm sure someone knows better than me.

Midarms are 11 to 16 inches. Some people put the 9 inch throat machines in midarm and some people put them in the domestic catagory. They generally have feed dogs and the foot faces the side of the machine. A true long arm starts at 18 inches and they don't have feed dogs and the foot faces the end of the machine.

A long arm has a bed of at least 18", and some can go up to 30" or so. The foot on mine faces the front of the machine...I have a Gammill Premier and I love it.
