Awesome fabric sale!
If any of you live in the DFW metroplex area, Golden D'or (on Harry Hines Blvd between Northwest Hwy and Royal Lane) is having their big fabric clearance sale through Saturday.
Anything in the clearance room in the back is marked WAY DOWN. Prices in there range from $1 (for stuff regularly up $7) to $5 (for stuff regularly over $18). The greatest bargain is their rolls of B grade velvet for (can you believe this!) $1/yd. You do have to get however much is on the roll, which varied from 3 yd to 17 yds.
They also had some of the $5 a bolt fabric like Walmart has, and it was marked down to $3.99.
In the main part of the store, their regularly priced batiks are $5.99 and $6.99/yd. Didn't check pricing on regular quilting quilting cottons, but they have a good selection, probably in similar price range.
I only went a little bit crazy in there....
2 yd of each of 8 batiks and 2 different bolts of the cheapie fabric (one a blue/green plaid and the other a print that was home decor type)
Then went back and got enough of the velvet to do our booth at Scarborough (and maybe use at the TRF one as well). Six openings 8 ft wide by 9 ft tall and one 16 ft wide by 9 ft tall. Don't you think 170 yds should do it??? We got several different earthy tones - mossy/olive greens, rich dark browns, 2 different golds, a couple of shades of taupes, a pretty blue and a sort of pumpkiny orange for accent. Any that isn't used for draping the openings can be used for draping the displays and possibly some on the other walls. Now if we can just get that booth built in the allotted time. Seems like some new delay happens every time we turn around.
