How Can I Clean a Grasscloth 301 Case?
Just bought a black 301a longbed in decent condition, but the case is yellowed and could use a good cleaning that I'm sure soap and a damp cloth can't help. Has anyone actually successfully cleaned one? I don't know what type of finish is on it. Thank you!

I'm pretty sure all the cases are a yellow color by now. At least all of mine are. I would test a small area first and the Resolve Charlie suggested sounds like a good one to try. Let us know how it goes.

These cases where not white to start with,, but a very very off white,, so they did look yellowish from day one... or a very lite beige.
The lotus I have was converted in the 20's and put in one of these fabric cover cases, some how it still looks new. The paper work is there to prove the sellers story. This thing must have been kept in a basement vault.
To store fabric I/we have always bought old suit cases, cleaning those is the same, some of this yellow and the stain's will never come out.
bleach on a rag will do wonders lifting stains from wood, I've never tried that on these cases.. after all teh case is there to keep that machine dry and clean.. " it's what inside that counts "

I just got a white FW and the case was pretty dirty. Those cases are a light green with white trim on cover part with white stitching. I used this bleach spray cleaner that I get at Walmart. It cleaned it up really nice (even the stitching turned white), but I tried to clean a friends case and it didn't clean it much. I look at it this way, if it's in rough shape...can I make it any worse ?? I also have a black FW and I just wiped that case down (was in much better shape) and after it dried, put black shoe polish on it, looks brand new.I would try the spray bleach. Good luck

in 1957 when my 301A was purchased, new, the case was yellow/straw colored and it still is....never have used anything but a dust cloth on it but then there are no spots and it has only left the sewing room ....thinking...5 times and three of those were moving to "new" houses. The machine is used daily, the case not so much !
