don't know why but when sewing strips of binding on curves and corners, I have not problems with the outer one's but the inner one's frustrate me. Feels like it should be basic commom sense but it eludes me!

Are you cutting your binding on the bias? You need to do that for curved edges. the bias allows you to ease or stretch the binding as needed.

PaperPrincess is so right cutting on the bias will let you work with the curves.
