yes, I am trolling craigslist again! =) isn't this one pretty? Looks 'rocketeer-ish', but I know it isn't . . .

gonna ask if it has any goodies with it! ;0)

No, not a 301.It is a slant 404 straight stitch only machine, the others in the Singer 400 series were the 401 and the 403. Very nice stitches. If you can get it reasonable, grab it.

Those were used in home ec rooms when gals learned to sew. I think they are a very good choice just for that. Very easy to use.

Boy hidey, if I lived in SC, that little beauty would today be sitting in my sewing room. Love it, and we don't see good stuff on our CL here.

thanks you guys!! Just when I think *maybe* I am learning something . . lol!!

Fort mill is a decent hike, if I could afford it (and talk my guy into finding room for one more!) I would run to get it. Unfortunately . . . =//.

also, they haven't emailed me back, yet.

Just remembered: Someone on the Singer Slant Yahoo group said you can install the feed dogs and needle plate from a 401 onto that 404 and then it will do double-needle stitching. I'm not certain whether the zigzag attachment can also be used with that double needle.
