I am going to try the penguins, this will help me with my goal to do more applique this year. Since I can do a small amount each month I should be ok. Thanks for sharing.

Each block pattern is free for one month to her newsletter subscribers. You can sign up on the left side of page. After the month is up patterns can be purchased for $3.50.

I am in the process of two BOM's from www.fatcatpatterns.com and they have been great fun - doing the owls and the tropical fish. The fish BOM will end just about the same time the penguins start. I already have the white for my penguins and I may use a blue with snowflakes on it for the background (from my stash). The only fabric I will probably buy is the black since I don't have any great amounts of solid black in my stash. I decided to do the blanket stitch on the owls by hand using black embroidery thread. I also did the same with the fish but decided to match the thread to the fabric. I am not sure what I will do with the penguins ... any suggestions?

It looks free to me if you get it during the month that she shows it. After that it looks like you have to pay $3.50 for pattern, referring to the "tile' one.
