It shocked me when I learned when people hear "New York" they think New York City. That is such a small part of New York and not what it's all about. I live in the Finger Lakes region and I've never seen a prettier spot. Here's an example... we went kayaking on Hemlock Lake today--the south end. My daughter met us there (and came home for several days since her research job is over and she has 3 weeks before clases start). Some photos are for quilt color ideas.

The lane to the launch area.

Rachel's in my main kayak. I paddled in the smaller one I bought for when I go alone. (I do not paddle here alone--only on the lakes surrounded in cottages. ) She thinks she was itching here.

The water is very clear--but the vegetation on the bottom is a variety of greens.

Water drop on my lens...

We met two other kayakers and two canoes out there--on a Saturday morning.

This looks exactly like some fabric I bought. I posted it awhile ago--the back for "A Walk Through the Park."

Cool, eh?

Seaweed--the sign we're back at the south end.

Back to the launch sight. It's been 7 miles in about 2 hours--the usual.

Whew. Now we load the kayaks on top of the van--the little one goes in. Then we get lunch!! :D

Beautiful pictures. Looks like you had a great morning. I would love to be on the water like that!!!
I have never see such a beautiful New York. Being on the West coast, it's true when someone says "New York" we think of a big city and lots of people and tall buildings and taxi's. Thanks for sharing a little of your world with us!!!

That is so beautiful!
I'm sure it's even better when the foliage starts to turn and is in the brightest peak!
Ok, I'm jealous again! But what else is new?
Thanks for the trip on the lake. :)

Karla, I looove the way you capture your pictures...I can feel myself right on the water, I could reach out and touch it. The trees are so beautiful, I just want to touch the screen and feel the feathery softness of all those beautiful greens.
You have this one picture of the sunlight hitting the clear water, with rocks underneath, and the water looks rippled, making swirl designs over the rocks...awesome!
I saw the faces in the trees too, and the reflections...and the stacking...so amusing and interesting to think somebody did that for fun and maybe for others to see, a little sign of a visitor in a magic world  Your right, it's all so breathtaking and beautiful.
I'll never think of New York the same old way again :D
