Default Organizing scraps

I have all my fabric organized except scraps. I do a lot of appliqué and was wondering how others who do appliqué organize their scraps

I put all my scraps in extra large Ziploc bags. I tried organizing them and created a monster, so Ziploc wins!

I use shoebox sized clear bins that we purchased for toy organization when our kids were toddlers. Their toys and the organization of them has changed, and I've found other uses for the bins.

LuvTooQuilt, your dollar store red bins are a neat, free way to store scraps, too. What a clever idea!

I do a lot of applique, too. For small scraps, I separate by color into plastic ziploc baggies.

I put mine in small tubs, 1-1/2" - 2" - 2-1/2" and 3". I have squares and short strips that can be cut into squares in a tub also.

I have my scraps in my sewing room on a bakers rack in clear shoe boxes sorted by colors. Really easy access. I don't keep a whole lot but I have a dozen or so. Pink, red, green, gold/yellow, blue, purple, brown, black and white, black, white,
and I don't know what else since I cannot see them all from here :-)

Most of my stash is scraps! I have them sorted by color - mostly, some by type - Christmas, Novelty, Civil War, Thimbleberries, Batik, 30's. I don't own many pieces of fabric larger than fat quarters and most are smaller. I love making scrap quilts and very seldom buy fabric for a specific project. I have been quilting since 1998 and for some reason, my fabric just seems to accumulate. Most of the time, the only fabric I purchase is to finish a scrappy quilt - borders & backs usually. When friends give me their leftovers, I try to cut them into 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5" squares and then I go visit Bonnie Hunter's website for quilt ideas. I use clear storage containers about the size of shoe boxes.
