Crown Royal quilt and pillow
A friend gave me a bag of Crown Royal bags to play with, so I made this lap throw (39" x 49") and a 15" square pillow. I used a mottled gold/beige fabric on the backs. After they were finished, I washed them...and discovered two things. The purple from the bags bleeds a lot, and little fuzzies from the bags migrated to the flannel back of the quilt. I had lots of purple fuzz balls on the gold fabric, as well as blotchy purple spots. After several washings with dye catchers, and a session with an electric fuzz remover, it's finally done! I earned some "patience points" on this quilt.
If I make another one, I'll use a regular quilting cotton (non flannel) of a dark color on the back of the quilt. Hopefully, that will eliminate the bleeding and defuzzing process!
