Default Hello From Misawa, Japan

I am living in Japan with my husband which is wonderful but the fabric here is super expensive and its hard to find some items. On the flip side the fabric is gorgeous and before I move I will have to get a lot of different patterns
.
I just started quilting a few months ago and I am working on my first quilt right now so I'm a beginner. My first quilt is a lap size Hawaiian quilt. I have finished the applique part by hand and I am now doing the hand quilting. I may do machine quilting somewhere down the road but I'm not sure about that.

Hello from Arizona. My daughter lived in Japan for 14 months and loved it! She was there teaching English & doing missionary work. Loved it and she did bring me a bit of fabric but it is very expensive. I found fabric from Japan here and it sells for $38 a yard. Tooo much for me to buy

Welcome from OHIO, USA! I would love to see pictures of some of the Japanese fabrics you have found.

Welcome from southeastern PA. If I had to pay the price of what material sells for in Japan I wouldn't have the stash that I have. But then that could be a good thing, or not.

I'm actually taking a short trip back to Wisconsin but I'll only be there for a week or so. I'm hoping to find a nice quilt shop to visit to get some of the supplies I can't get here.

Yeah I don't have a stash I buy some of the scraps but some of those are $10.
