Default Bernina 1630 Inspiration Plus computer screen help

My friend recently was given used one and the screen contrast is so low it's hard to see what's on it. Is this an expensive fix? She has to drive over 5 hours to a dealer so was wondering if it was worth getting fixed.

I have a Bernina 1530 and never had a problem but I have heard that replacing some of the computer components can run into some money. She might want to see if she can e-mail the Bernina dealership and see if he can give her an estimate. You could also call Bernina of America customer support and see if they can give you any sort of an estimate. Berninas do hold there value so it is not like investing money into a cheaper built DSM.

I don't have one of these, but I am wondering if she has tried changing the brightness. I found this website with the manual on it: http://www.ps2netdrivers.net/sewing....piration.plus/

There is a section in the manual labeled Setup with a paragraph that mentions pressing the external Setup button. Select Display, then Brightness & Display, then Contrast. She may be able to adjust the brightness enough this way to make it easier to see what's on the screen.

Does she have the manual for the machine? These instructions should be in there under Setup.

Thanks for the manual info. She has called the dealer several times but only gets voice mail and no return call so far.
