Default Am I the only dumb pantie maker?

I have been attempting to make the big girl panties and the zipper has me bumfuzzled. It has been put in twice and now it is hand basted in place. I have ripped it so much I'm turning green. What am I missing. There has to be a way I can get it done right. Thanks for any help you can give me.

LOL! I was wondering, too, what kind of panties! I made my granddaughter's American Girl doll panties out of Dollar Store panties. . .

Follow the steps but the only spot I had to puzzle out is when you are sewing the lining. The first side is easy but when you do the second side, the whole pantie section is folded right side together. The whole lining is folded on itself on top of the folded panty section for sewing the zipper top but make sure the zipper is open so you can turn then right side out after sewing.
Here is a little pencil sketch of what I am trying to describe. The panty and the lining are off set in the drawing but when sewing they are stacked on top of each other. Hope it helps.

Hey, don't feel bad, I made four pair before I got it right, lol.....love these little things, so cute and addictive to make. Here are just a few I have made. Just do it step by step you will get it.
