Default cutting mat

Have any of you used the Speedpress large self-healing cutting mat? I have the white one from J0-anns and it dulls the blades and is not self-healing. Where is the best one to buy for the money?

I hate those white mats. They are not self healing. I like Olfa.

Mine is Fiskars. Got it about 10 years ago!

Fiskars is also a material that will dull blades, unfortunately.
The better mat is from Olfa, the first and original mat for quilters. It was designed for the engineering industry and is truly "self-healing. You can get them for a decent price at Hancocks of Paducah as well as Joannes.

I agree--Olfa is the way to go!

I used the Olfa mat for cutting but I have one of those huge white ones for protecting my kitchen table when I am pinning/prepping a quilt for machine quilting but I don't use it for cutting.

I vote for Martelli, with Olfa second. I keep the used Olfas for cutting other stuff like paper and mat board.

What's the white mat some LQS use on their cutting tables?

I like Olfa as well. Coupons are beautiful things. Wait for the 40-50% off ones from JoAnns or elsewhere before buying a mat.

I have always preferred to get an Omnigrid mat over the Olfa. They are much thicker. I got my online from JAF when they were half off with free shipping. They are only sold online.
