Ive looked through tutorials on double irish chain quilts, but there is something that looks tricky about it. Is there a way to do it with strip piecing and how difficult is it ? Thanks!

I wouldn't consider it difficult. Most these days are made with strip piecing. If you search for "double irish chain quilt" on Amazon, several good books on how to make these will come up. The books are great for showing you the different options, providing yardage and cutting charts, and helping with construction step-by-step. Well worth the investment.

Ive found patterns, don't want to buy a book on it. Will keep looking to see if one makes more sense.

EB has a book but it is a triple Irish chain. It is all strip piecing. Just color placement varies from a single.

I did one as my third quilt, and it was done with mostly strip piecing. I would consider it a beginner pattern, and very easy quilt

Ok, i found instructions that made sense, i think ill try it, the first pattern i looked at made it more complicated than it should be. Thanks for your help

I made a triple Irish chain and it was made entirely with 2 1/2" strips sewn together in sets of 5 then crosscut. Only trick was keeping fabric strips in the right order--otherwise it was easy and I am a beginner!

Actually the Double Irish Chain was the second quilt we made in my beginning class over 30 years ago....rotary cutters, speed piecing, machine pieced-handquilted. So easy that it turned out quite well and I eventually sold it for a pretty penny.

I have made several and it is really easy to do and comes out so pretty. I even made one for a baby using Irish fabric and it was adorable. By the way the baby has 100% Irish parents and his nursery was done in green. What else.
