Smile Superman Quilt

Hi Ladies, My GD ask me to make her a Superman quilt. She said she would like a life size Superman panel. I found one on line. It is 44x60 inches. All I could find that large is in fleece fabric. Now for my questions. Does fleece ball up and pill when washed numerous times? Also, does the really soft fleece polyester work well with it? Do I launder it all first for fading and shrinking? I love all you ladies and appreciate your help, advice, and wisdom. Thank you for all your input. Karen

Hi Karen....pilling depends on the quality of the fleece. It should say that it is "non-pill" on the site
RE; washing...i would wash just to get the chemicals out....but i've found that fleece - being polyester - doesn't shrink or fade.

I have also been told that you do not use fabric softener on some flleece.

Have you thought of enlarge a photo of Superman and doing a large applique?? Have you looked for a bed sheet that might work?? Good Luck.

I have found that some fleece DID shrink - but that was from several years ago - so I can't say for certain what your piece will do.

I had made a two-layer fleece throw - and it was all nice and smooth after putting it together - after washing it, it was rumpled and would not lay flat. It turns out that the two different layers behaved differently after they were washed.
