Default Double Wedding Ring makers????

I'm thinking of making a double wedding ring quilt when i'm done with my EPP grandmothers flower garden.
this will also be EPP for construction and I need a hand project., so.....
on the colors, lime green and aqua rings, do you keep the fabrics in the same position? or do you vary them. What size rings do you make?
thanks for your help.

Lynnie, I used John Flynn's template when they first came out and I never finished it so it is somewhere buried in a closet. I kept the colors the same going from green to burgundy. I would keep them in position unless you decide to do scrappy. Check out Google to look at what other quilters have done with the DWR. Have FUN.

EPP? Are you going to make the paper pieces yourself? Or are you going to go with inklingo? Have you looked into other designs? Like diamonds, jewel, Dresden........I don't think I've ever seen a DWR that has been EPP.....do you have a reference picture? I'm curious now! Good luck, this sounds like a real challenge!

I used a Judy Neimeyer paper piecing pattern for my DWR. Her directions called for strip piecing the arcs, 6 or 7 at a time, so yes, the colors were all in the same order, although I suppose I could have varied them. I was pleased with the results.

I think you'd want them in the same order so when it's done it looks unified. Not explaining well, but you know how some scrappy quilts make your eyes go nuts because there's nothing to unify the pattern? That might happen with the DWR. If you have a design wall, maybe cut out and audition the fabrics in different places and see what's best. Sometimes I do this with colored paper if I don't have extra fabric. Good luck and have fun!

paperpieces.com has the papers for the DWR. I use them and Fiskers punches for my hexes with junk mail.

I can't paper piece and really want a hand sewing project. I enjoy them at night and at bees.

thanks for your advice on keeping colors the same in the order.

any suggestions on the size, I don't want to small, it has to be about 100 x 120, my bed is very high. I don't want to go to big and look cheap, if you know what I mean. thanks everyone.

Hi Lynnie: Here are the Google photos displaying Judy Neimeyer paper piecing pattern for my DWR. She actually design jelly roll batiks to make her DWR. Absolutely GORGEOUS !
