Default Halloween Block Swap 2015

Halloween Block Swap 2015
This swap is for all types of Fun Halloween blocks. The signups will close August 30th.

The swap is open to all levels of quilters. Please use 100 percent good quality cotton fabrics that are prewashed. I understand that if you are using pre-cuts (jellyrolls, charm packs) that is impossible.

Please make your blocks before you sign up for this swap. The signups will close on August 30th and the blocks should be mailed to me by the September 15th deadline. I am happy for you to send them early if you want to. I am not in any other swap that would mix up with these. So pm me and I will give you the address to send them as soon as you want.

Send me a pm to sign up for the swap.
Please include your Board Name, Real name, Address and Phone # (onlt to be used by me) How many sets you want to do.

The finished block size can be any size block divisible by three. Note! Beginning with a 6 1/2" square. No 3 1/2" blocks on this swap!

For example...the finished sizes can be, 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 , 6 1/2 x 9 1/2, 9 1/2 x 12 1/2 sized blocks. The max size being 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 . Please do not send just a cut piece of fabric as a block. It won't count towards you block sets and would have to be returned to you.

The swap will be for sets of six (6). The limit of sets is 4 per swapper.

It is possible that you will not get the exact same sizes back as you sent. Also please note, you will not be getting any of your blocks back, so if you wish to have one of your own blocks, please make another for yourself to save for your quilt. Place each set into a plastic baggie with your name and board name attached to each block so the person receiving it will know who made it.

The block images can be spooky, silly, creepy or cute.
Lets make this one a dusk or night time quilt. That means medium colored backgrounds or fabrics. Say in blues, blacks or purples or whatever?? The pieced blocks can have some whites or images on the block can be white and be in whichever colors you wish. Brights are very fun and work great for halloween.

There are many images and blocks available on the web, or make something up on your own. Embroidery works too! Lets have some fun with this! Just remember, if you are doing applique, you must sew it to the blocks in such a way that it is nice and washable later. You can't just iron it on and call it good.

>>> IMPORTANT POSTAGE INFO!!! Use only the U. S. postage stamps for the return envelopes!!! The metered stamp is no good after a very short time and will not be any good because of the difference in the time you mail them and the time I swap them out!!

Mail your block sets to me in a flat rate envelope and have a self addressed flat rate return envelope with the postage attached inside with your bagged blocks. With the flat rate envelope we don't have any problems returning them to you. Another good reason is the flat rate envelopes have confirmation numbers that you can check where they are as they are traveling here.

If you want to sign up, please pm me by clicking on my name. Should you have any questions or completion problems please contact me by pm.
Have Fun, Letsquilt
.

I love Halloween too. I signed up and will have fun with this.

One question? Do all of the blocks in the set have to be exactly the same, or can we exchange a color here or there?

Hmmm...I've done this swap a few years back, and it was so fun! As I love Autumn, Halloween, etc that certainly makes it more so.
I've not been able to participate in some of my "usual" swaps lately, as many of you know my hubby's health has not been good.
So I can't commit yet, but please know it's not due to lack of interest.
Either way, I can't wait to see all the wonderful blocks I know will be swapped!
Regards all,
Kif

Hi kiffie,
I sure hope hubby gets well soon. Bless his heart. I understand caretaking. I took care of my mom in her last few months and helped my dad stay on his own by shopping and cleaning his place and keeping the bills paid. I know the stamina it takes to keep them comfortable and fed. Make sure you take care of yourself too. It was a huge drain on me. But, they are our loved ones, so what can you do?

If you get a little time to sew, maybe just one set, you might enjoy the mental break. But, I am sure everyone will understand if you can't.

By the way... I LOVE mark twain.

I still have blocks left over from a boom swap I did a year ago. I haven't sewn them into anything because no one wants to put up things for the season! argh. this is a lovely time of year it always brings me back so many good memories of the season as a kid. Walking around trick or treating? a great joy. My father always had us doing killer pumpkins (or so we thought lol) and mom let us color things and put them up on our huge windows. pumpkins galore. Remember going out without worry of someone stealing you? I do. Mom and Dad stayed home and we went on our own. By the time my kids were going it was already too late for that. One parent went with them at all times. how sad. I have to think on this a bit more. I love Halloween but not sure I need more blocks to go into the ufo drawer
