Default Virtual Quilting Weekend 1/29-1/31/16

It's time for another Virtual Quilting Weekend! I hope you can join us as we share what we're working on this weekend and encourage each other. Don't be surprised if you pick up a few ideas for future projects when you see what others are quilting. And for those who are cleaning/organizing their rooms, yes that counts too! Don't forget to share pictures of your progress.

I'm going to be starting a new quilt today (even though there are six waiting to be quilted ) A friend and I working together on the new project.

Before I forget, next VQW will be the first weekend in March (March 4-6).

If anyone has questions, please pm me.

Heather

This weekend, I'm trying out Ricky Tim's, Kool Kaleidoscope technique. I've finished making my five pair of strata, and now it is time to make the templates. I'll post pictures in a follow-up.

I will be sewing on some labels on the 4 quilts I will be entering in the quilt show here. I'll post them later this weekend.

I've got a non-quilting project to wrap up - and then I plan on spending a significant amount of time this weekend working on something new and exciting. Not really sure what it will be, but I'm getting somewhat unenthusiastic about sewing because I'm been forcing myself to deal with UFOs for a while.

This morning, I will be making one more double-sided baby receiving blanket, 3 burp cloths, and a taggie toy for a baby shower on Sunday. Nothing like last minute!

Today I am finished my first checkerboard for this Play With Quilt Along. http://www.quiltingboard.com/links-r...a-t273416.html I have four other checkerboards started and will be donating them to a new ministry that helps foster kids in our area.

I've made some animal blocks from Elizabeth Hartman's "Fancy Forest" and I'm hoping to turn them into a baby quilt this weekend.

This weekend I'll be working hard at finishing the Smith Mtn (Quiltville) that's on my frame. Its all custom quilting but by robotics using 2 colors of threads so lots of thread changing but I'm very happy how its coming out. Also between patterns being quilted I'm in the other room working on piecing Bonnie Hunter's latest myster - Allietare. Got a late start and still cutting some steps. So many little pieces on this quilt. Also givin my new to me Brother XR3140 machine a workout. Just picked up a new 1/4" foot with a guard to try out. I can set the machine for that perfect 1/4" scant seam with this machine. Before I was using the overlook foot with a guard on it but my fabric kept slipping under the guard so had to watch myself. I can sew about 10 little HST for each pattern is being quilted. Got it timed.

Count me in! I'm working on an Asterisk quilt right now and I'm getting bored making all these asterisk blocks...81 of them. I need some camaraderie from others and motivation. It is coming out pretty though...I must admit. I'll post pix soon.
