Default inappropriate advertising for a Quilting Web Site

Hi Quilters,
Is it just me or does this type of advertising turning you off this website too?

Shouldn't advertising be related to why we are here in the first place... to learn about new techniques and products, see inspiring ideas. Doesn't the board have any say about what the ads are going to be before they sell the space?

I have never seen that ad but I just ignore any small ads on the side bar. Ads are how we have a free site but I do use ad blockers.

I suggest you use an ad blocker.

Yes it does and thank you for posting. I find the health related ads on this site to be inappropriate.

Advertising is what pays for the free board. If you don't want to see ads, use an ad blocker. I don't see any health related ads, mine are based on recent browsing history, so connecting threads and fabric.com come up a lot! I'm very good at just ignoring them. I have a slow connection so the ones that bother me are the animated ones. Take a long time to load.

How do you use an ad blocker? I would love to do that.

There is an expense with running a website but many of us use ad blocker. I haven't seen any of those annoying moving ads.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser. To get an ad blocker, go to "Tools"---"Add Ons"---in search bar, type in "ad blocker", and a number will come up for you to install. I use "AdBlock Ultimate". That should stop the ads.

Search for AdBlock Plus for Chrome if you use Chrome browser.

thanks everyone, that worked! But now I don't see any ads on QuiltingBoard. Wouldn't mind the quilt related ads.
