Default Quilt Box vs Secret Santa boxes

After having participated in a wonderful Secret Santa box exchange on this board (kudos to tirnhi!!!), I have noticed that some dealers are putting together their own boxes. Bonnie Hunter has one for $48/month http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2016/...uilty-box.html and the Fat Quarter shop has their own for $24/month: http://www.fatquartershop.com/sew-sa...bscription-box. I have not tried these, yet. Have any of you?

It is hard to beat that Secret Santa exchange that we did here for the personalized touch that I saw in others' boxes; but these others might be a fun way to try new things that I would never give a second thought to purchase. Sometimes I just need a break from my quilts to keep me on track.

Do you know of any other shops that have this kind of box for sale and have you tried it?

Thanks! -- Juana

I would participate but I just have too much fabric as is and I am trying to only get what I need to finish a quilt. Sounds like fun.

It sounds like fun. Since both links show what type of items they will send, you might get a good feel if you want/need those items. I think I rather take the $20-$50 and find something on sale and get something I choose.

Bonnie Hunter doesn't have a quilt box program, she receives one from http://www.quiltybox.com/ and gives one away on her blog.

Here on the board we also have an ongoing secret pal exchange. Much less expensive than a $48 box. Jmo.
I love participating in our monthly exchange. I don't think I could justify signing up for an expensive surprise box from a shop. ( just me) I like that along with receiving fun neat surprises I also pass on, share with someone else. I get to pass on items I don't use and shop for little surprises.

It seems that this is a fad with a number of venues. One of my sister's get a 'makeup' box each month. Another sister gets a 'clothes" box each month. As for me.... no thank you. I have more than enough "stuff" and am very selective as to how I spend my money. To each her own. ;-)

I'm another one who already has too much fabric! I have done Secret Santa activities at work, but we had a $1 per person limit! I'm retired, and don't have $24 a month to spend on "surprises".

I always think these boxes to be very expensive for what you get. The one I saw was four FQ's, so that's $12.00. A HST ruler that is $13. A block pattern and some thread. So maybe $30 worth of materials for $48 plus shipping. Much cheaper to to the secret pal and follow a Block of the Month.

I think it would be a cute gift to receive from someone.
I would rather take the money and buy what I need in either case a board or one of those secret Santas. there's lots I need and junk I don't want.
