Default Noisey Elna 2004

I recently received an Elna 2004 to use while my Elna Air Electronic was in the shop. The 2004 is a noisy machine compared to my older Elna. Is this common for this machine or does it need some adjustment? I have oiled the machine and put in a new needle but that did not make a difference. I am just wondering if this is common for this machine. Any comments would be appreciated.

I don't know WHY one machine is noisier than any other, but I too, have the same problem. I'm in a sewing guild with 18 other women, and MY machine is noisy, while the other ladies machines seem to prrr like kitties. I, too, have oiled my moving parts in my machine. My machine is a Necchi, not an Elna, but this is certainly an aggravating thing. I'll follow along with this thread, and hopefully you and I will both be given ideas on what is causing this. Thanks for posting.

I can't answer your question, 'cause I've got the same problem. Two Phaffs, one noisy as heck, the other nice and quiet.
