Once again, you entice me with things I have no access to on dial-up! What is this "special paint pencil" in the description? Where can I get one? Are they easy to use? Tell me more!

Patt Blair shares with us images of some of her beautiful painted quilts. Patt creates these quilts using a special "paint pencil" and fabric dyes. For more on Patt watch Episode 510, Quilts Through Two Artist's Eyes (Patt Blair, Tammy Finkler). Or visit her website, http://www.pattsart.com.

###did you follow the links through her website? can you get there?###

within the smilebox itself, i was able to leave a question relating to the pencil....we can hope someone will answer.

Painted Quilt Art – Step by Step

    Supply List
Regular point and ultra-fine point black Sharpie pens.
Pencil and notebook for taking notes.
Approx a fat quarter of white or off-white scrap fabric for practicing.
Approx 1 yard of prepared for dyeing white fabric… OR 1 yard of washed plain white fabric(tighter weaves work best)
    Fabric and paper scissors
    Masking or painter's tape
2 white large plastic trash bags (like for tall kitchen cans)
A few paper towels in case of a rare spill
Bring clear focus color photos (8” x 10”) of what you wish to create a drawing from to paint.

You might want to keep this first project manageable in size… i.e. around 18” x 20”.
Patt will have a roll of oversized paper in the classroom for sale at cost.
If you do not wish to create an original drawing, you may choose from one of my ready to go contour drawings at my cost of reproduction. One drawing is paintable in 2-day format class. A second drawing is doable in longer format classes.
Bring pigment inks, fantastix painting sticks, and fabric markers you may already own. ( There will be time in class to pick up what you don’t have)
    Optional :
A white plastic picnic plate to mix on should you wish to mix inks; although I rarely do this.
Acrylic watercolor brushes if you prefer them over stick applicators.
If you already own fabric markers, feel free to bring them. They might be what you need.
You may wish to bring a small craft iron and ironing pad, power strip to keep by your work space if you have difficulty getting up and down.

For those creating original drawings,Patt can provide an overhead transparency.
Inks, fantastix painting sticks, PFD (Prepared for Dying) fabric, drawings, and markers available in class with arrangements with hosting organization.

OKAY --- FROM WHAT I CAN TELL, INKS, FANTASTIX PAINTING STICKS.

FOLLOW THE LINKS ON HER HOMEPAGE. I DIDDLED AROUND AND FOUND THIS UNDER SOME CLASS PROJECT SUPPLY LIST. SHE ALSO USES FINE LINE SHARPIES. but to tell the truth, for the art quilts it sounds like she uses everything.
