Question !/4 inch foot

Can I buy a quarter inch foot for my 1949 Singer and if yes, where would I buy one?

I bought mine at the local quilt shop. However, you can get them on most of the sewing machine parts sites online and on Amazon and probably JoAnns online. You'll need a short shank foot for a Singer of that era. (The other main two types are long shank and slant shank, which you do not need.)

If you do not know the model number of your machine, you can post a photo and someone will help you ID it. The three main ones from that era are the 221, 66, 15 and 201. They all take a short shank foot and are interchangeable.

Any shop that sells sewing machines should have a few 1/4" feet in blister packs on the wall where small accessories are displayed. I see that your address is Tacoma, so you have some place nearby. There is an excellent store just about one block north of Tacoma Mall, even JoAnn's will have the foot you are looking for. It should be a low shank foot. I think the price runs to about $5 each.

If you need odd ball parts for your old singer, try:

A very informative site. I will try some of these ideas on my machine.

I bought my quarter inch foot for my 301a here http://shop.sew-classic.com/

I also got a walking foot for the 301a from Sew Classic. They seem to have a good selection of parts and accesories for older Singers.

I also suggest SewClassic. I have accessories for most of my machines from them.

I also recommend SewClassic. I have purchased accessories for most of my machines from them. Their prices are reasonable and they ship quickly.
