Default Heather's Butterflies

This is a quilt I designed, appliqued and hand quilted for a friend of mine, Ann. Her daughter, Heather passed away a year ago from cancer. She was a young mother, in her 30's. A mutual friend relayed this story to me about the two of them spending her last days in hospice care. Heather told her mom that she knew her mom would miss her and the time they got to spend talking when she was gone, so she wanted her to remember her by butterflies. Heather loved butterflies. She said "every time you see a butterfly, know that I am still with you and we can still have our talks". I will be giving this quilt to her this month and hope it will bring her some wonderful memories and many, many talks with her sweet girl.

The quilt is beautiful. What a kind thing you are doing for Ann & I just know she will cherish it all the days of her life. A loved one can never be replaced but a tangible reminder is so healing. Thank you for sharing this with us. My prayers are with Ann as she takes one day at a time.

Oh, so touching! Now, each time I will see a flutterby, I too will whisper a prayer......
