Antique Sewing Maching
I have a sewing machine in a Singer cabinet but nowhere on the machine does it say Singer. It has Classic, Deluxe Sewing Machine and Made in Japan. The only numbers I can find on it is JA 5 and 5531. It is electric but has a regular cabinet foot pedal also. It sews beautifully.
Can anyone give me any information on this machine.

The JA5 and the Classic DeLuxe are all indicators of a machine made in Japan. According to one list, the JA5 designation produced JC Penny and Penncrest machines... at the least. It doesn't mean there weren't more. Without a photo of the machine it's impossible to pin down the manufacturing era since so many variants were made from the late fifties into the 70's. The fact that it's still here and still sewing beautifully is yet more evidence to fact that many of these machines were quality made and equaled -if not surpassed- the craftsmanship of many machines made elsewhere in the world.
That's the important bit. If your machine does what you want it to do and it does it every time you ask, without fail... then the only important name it should go by is: exceptional.
