Found noodles at the dollar store...Halloween colors...lol. Bought 3. Now need to sew up a top real quick to try the noodle roll basting with Elmer. Wish me luck.

I use pool noodles for a small quilt. Works great.
I used painters tape to sucure quilt to noodle.

Pool noodles work well to roll up a small top and the added bonus of sticking pins into it until you are ready to unroll.

You can also use pool noodles on larger quilts as well. You can join the noodles together by using a piece of PVC pipe that will fit the center of the noodle - usually 3/4 to 1 inch in diameter and about 12 inches long. Stick the pipe in the end of one noodle, add the other noodle to the other end of the pipe and secure with duct tape. Cut the noodles to fit what you need if you don't need the length of 2 noodles. You can put tables end to end to accommodate the length of the noodles and it works beautifully. The last quilt I did using that method was a queen size with no problems.

Ditto to Rff1010's reply. The middle of the quilting process, basting the sandwhich, is always a big mess for me.

Everyone has wonderful ideas for these pool noodles and thank you to all. I am going to just roll a big quilt up around a pool noodle and head to my long armer and this way it will have a few less wrinkles in it.

I find using the noodles to glue baste a big hassle for large size quilts as the backing and top has to be glued to the batting.

i haven’t actually tried that method but every video I watch looks like a hassle. I glue baste with no clips or tape and smooth everything down. I do it on my dining room table or for smaller quilts on my big board ironing board a section at a time. Hoping the noodles work for those who try them.
