Default hand quilting is finally done!!

This top has a story behind it. I found the white batik and bought most of the bolt because I love it. Then I found the right color solids to go with it and made the top. The top spent several years in the UFO pile until I found the right stencils for the center design. I sandwiched it in January of 2022 and started hand quilting. I work on it in the evenings when I am watching TV. I admit, I don't work on it every night, and there were several weeks that I didn't touch it due to the year we had. I sewed everything into this quilt. Our family had a rough year with accidents and surgeries and illness and my mom's death. I see a diary of it all, in this quilt. Hand quilting is very therapeutic when you are worried. The proper name came to me as I was putting the last stitches in. I call it 'Turn the Page'. It's time to turn the page to a new, and hopefully better new year.

This has been a challenging journey for you. But now your beautiful quilt will remind you that you have endured those challenges and come through to the other side. I wish you a better new year too. Your quilt is amazing. Well done.

Lovely quilt and quilting! I saw that same background fabric used in the Country Bride quilt done in much the same colours. I loved it also but was never able to find a bolt. Why don’t they reproduce fabrics that are loved?
