I had some Northcrott Hollyhock fabric I bought for full LQS price and I ordered more from Marshall at less then 1/2 the price. I wanted to see if I could tell a difference in quality. I have compared the two fabrics and the feel, weight, and color seems exactly alike. I can't tell any difference. I can't say this about all the fabric sold there but the Northcoft appears to be the same as LQS quality.

I got some Marshall's from my sister. I used it for backing on one I am quilting now. I saw a hole when I laid it out. We pulled more from the bolt and saw another hole. I was not too happy. We were at our Tuesday church quilting group and I wanted to get my sandwich done. I went ahead and used it because I was able to "make" the hole land about where I plan to put my label. I am not very sure I would want to order from them.

Sounds like a punch got to the bolt. I would have let them know of the damage. I have emailed Marshall before and got a prompt reply from the owner's daughter. They are super nice.

Marshall's does have a $1 (huge bins of 'em) of material that has defects to them. Some might have colors that have ran together to some slight degree, a small hole or other defects. These are not in the regular folded fabrics or online that I am aware of. They are super nice there, so I'm sure if you let them know they would certainly offer help and assistance.

I LOVE rummaging through the $1 yard tables! I do have fun, and the fabrics are seconds, but since I am cutting them anyway, I get lots of pleasure from those fabrics!

The bolts I have gotten have been very good quality!

Shemjo, I'm curious, how much are the bolts? I never went into the dealers area because I didn't know that I could with a Dealer's license? However, my Grandmother does, so I could bring her if I ever wanted to. Am I reading this correctly, you can go back there? I guess that's two questions in one. LOL! Thanks.

    I meant 'without' a license.

I have a tax letter from my church and we set up an account over the phone! Piece of cake! Well worth the effort. Bolts come in different lengths and I have gotten 10 yard bolts on up. Some as little at $1.95 a yard. Call, what have you go to lose!
BTW, the racks are not open on weekends and holidays.
