http://www.alzquilts.org/

This is a wonderful and fun organization that auctions and sells donated quilts for Alzheimer's research. The AAQI has donated over $400,000 toward research since 2006. My Liberated Quilters group issued a challenge to create quilts for this worthwhile cause and the founder of AAQI has asked us to spread the word to other quilters.

The auction starts April 1 and the quilts can be found here: http://www.alzquilts.org/quiltauction.html

There are also quilts for sale here: http://www.alzquilts.org/quiltsforsale.html

And if you'd like to make a quilt to donate: http://www.alzquilts.org/paq.html (Yoo hoo, doll quilt swappers!)

Thanks for the links Chele. I went to a quilt show today and the local guild had their little alzheimer quilts on display. They were amazing. I am going to get one done.

Correction: The AAQI has raised "almost" $400,000 for Alzheimer's research.

I purchased their book last year at our state quilt show. Their quilts were on display and brought tears to one's eyes reading the stories that went with each quilt.

I have it on my list for this year to make a quilt. I have nobody in my family that has ever had Alzheimer's but I can only imagine the heartbreak of watching someone you love slip away.
I have watched Ami Sims' blog for quite sometime and cried when reading what she went through.

thank you for the site, I have to get a baby quilt done, but I will see if I can do one for alzheimer's. this may take some time, as I can only stand the pain for about 10min at the sewing machine. Penny
