Yesterday I posted a request for help on what to do with a large scale print floral fabric. My Mom wants me to make her a quilt out of this fabric. This is the fabric...very bright oranges and lime greens on a dark brown background. There were a lot of great suggestions. I've even thought of fussy cutting the large flowers and doing my first applique. Kind of scary for me since I'm fairly new to quilting. Anyway some asked that I post a picture. If this gives anyone an idea please let me know.

Fussy cutting some of the flowers for applique would be very pretty in blocks, and/or in a wide border. You could use the smaller floral sections in the blocks.

Maybe a Dresden Plate using the small green clusters of flowers as the plates and fussy cut/applique a large orange flower in the center on a lighter green background and use whats leftover to peice a border????

I would do a Stack and Whack. Check out the Stacked Posies pattern. It's like a Stack and Whack but made for a beginner quilter. I think you would enjoy it and not have any frustration using the pattern.

This would be good for a latice quilt or an attic window or any design that uses a large square for a feature fabric. You can pull any of the colors from that fabric but I would stay more solid (tone on tone or small print) for the other fabrics to showcase those flowers.

    Have you checked Quilter's Cache?

I have not heard of the Dahlia pattern. The picture was beautiful. Where do I find the pattern? And is this a pattern for an expert quilter?

Cutebuns had a great tutorial of a one block wonder...Tip Toe through the Hexagons Cutie style. I used a large print floral and I think it turned out good. (not quilted yet so haven't posted pictures) It was my first quilt.
