This past weekend I came across a singer 99K in the case. It appears to be in great condition but is missing the bobbin case cover and has not attachments. the price is $124.00. Is this a good buy???

I think I paid $25 for mine about 3 years ago. It did not have extra feet, but they are easy to find.

It may depend on where you live. The price for older singers has gone up in the last 3 years in my area. I paid about $35 or $40 for one about 4 years ago but I can't find one for under $100 now. (I gave my first one to my son and the only way he'll trade with me is if I trade one of my featherweights with him....humph! Obviously I've trained him to enjoy older sewing machines.)
I haven't bought another 99 yet because I feel that $100 is too much at this point in my life. In one way, it isn't too much because the machine should last my lifetime and I've bought things that would only last 10 years for that price so why not the singer...but I'm still trying to figure out why all of a sudden people love the older machines. (I've loved them since I was about 10 years old and have been picking them up, fixing and then giving them away to friends and family for the last 10 years.)

I live in the northwest. In other areas of the country, the 99 may be going for less than up here.

IMO, that's too much. A bobbin case costs at least $25 and attachments probably another $20 (eBay plus shipping). It would need to be in mint condition with the bobbin case and attachments for $124.

I was thinking along those same lines. I think Goodwill has it's pricing off. I think I'll just keep and eye on it. After two weeks you can get it for 1/2 price. I think about it again then. Thanks for helping me out.

Maybe who ever was doing the pricing thought that all of the old Singers are the ever popular Featherweight! It could easily happen, all of the old machines are beautiful, to be sure.

I was thinking they might have it confused with a Featherweight, too. I wonder if I could talk them down?

Worth a try, find them on E Bay, and show that they are not the "valuable" ones.

They are wanting way too much for it!! How can it be missing a bobbin case when they never had them? Are you sure its not missing a bobbin plate? If the entire bobbin assembly is missing I know they are off of their rockers.

That machine is a drop in bobbin and they use the Class 66 bobbins.

I paid 50 for mine with the table in fantastic condition. Check Ebay to compare prices.
