In a magazine, I saw a picture of a quilt a lady had done and I would really like to make one like it. The squares were quite simple and each featured either an applique teapot or teacup. Beneath each teapot or cup was a flowered handkerchief, folded diagonally to look like a pretty doily or napkin. I've been attempting to make a quilt with my mother's hanky stash. I think that this one would really be fun to make, if I could only find a pattern. I'm not clever enough to make up one of my own. Does anybody recognize this quilt pattern or have any idea where I might find one? Thank you!

Sindy has a teapot curio and a teacup curio pattern that could be used to your liking. These are free applique patterns. I've made several of her patterns and really enjoy them. I know I've seen them with the doilies, too, but can't remember where.

Adding doilies or napkins to the applique blocks would be fairly easy. Just sew one edge into the seam when you put the background block together. You'll have to make sure the doilies don't get caught when you piece the blocks together.

I received a beautiful teacup tablerunner in the summer tablerunner swap. It was made by goldendog55. Here's the link, it's on page 17: http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-40961-17.htm
It has lace doilies peeping out from under the cups. It's so cute!

I bought a book of teapot appliques at my LQS, Teapot 2 Applique by Kay MacKenzie, from quiltpuppy.com. Includes cups, pitchers, etc. Your concept of using the hankys is great. I can't wait to see the results!
