does anyone have a pattern for making a quilt with old baby clothes etc. since many are knit material, will this work? kept a lot of my kids old baby clothes and need to go thru them and cut them up for quilt or something - will be hard to part with them but would like to try and do something with them

I have made 2 quilts for my friends granddaughter and I used some of her dresses that she had saved. I did not have problem with the different materials, but I only made a few simple blocks with the dresses. I fussy cut the parts I thought showed up the best and scattered them through out the quilt.

I am doing this very thing!! It means lots of fusible stabilizer for that knit fabric. I loosely followed a pattern--Baby Craze by Terry Stark. All the stablized fabric is sewn onto a foundation piece, so that makes it work. Now I'm working on a border and had to round up more clothes. If you want, you can do a search of my name and see what I have done so far! I don't have that pic saved on this computer.

If I ever do a baby clothes quilt again, it will be simple squares!!
