Ok so I have been doing some quilting related things with ladies here at my base (me mostly ooing and ahhing at the lovely quilts the others have made and getting good ideas) and we signed up for a block of the month with one of the quilt shops. Big challenge for me since all I have done was the queen quilt top I posted in my intro thread. They had two options, batiks and civil war colors. I chose the civil war colors pack.
Here are the fabrics that will be part of the border (nicely prepackaged for color challenged) http://www.blueaffliction.com/Craft/IMG_4344.JPG

We picked up our first month block a couple weeks ago and it came with some fabrics and the instructions for the block. (we are to supply the main background fabric, which I had a worthy fabric for this project.) here is the fabric from that pack: http://www.blueaffliction.com/Craft/IMG_4347.JPG

So I been working on cutting and some of the sewing, thinking oh crap can I actually handle doing this. Tonight I got my first 12 inch block done and all but the final sewing for one of the 6 inch block for this month. Pretty proud of myself since I have NEVER done it before :)

Looks wonderful for your first block. Keep up the good work. Remember it is very important to iron each step of the way.
