I had fun creating it ~ I always spend too much time picking fabrics, I wish I could stress less on that part...

My only question.. How do you make the lining lay down against the zipper? I've seen some stitched but I don't see how that is possible..

I purchased the yummy Moda grunge fabric from natalieg and it matched the Heather Ross line perfectly!

I used my Bernina today.. I'm ashamed to say I purchased it over a year ago but have been too lazy to learn how to use it so I've been using my Janome. I thought I would give it a try today and absolutely love it!

Love the fabrics. Sorry, I can't help you with the lining, I usually avoid that part and just serge it all!

My daughter explained it to me after I put a zipper in a purse for her. I did it just like you did; sewing the zipper itself to the edges of the bag. She told me that you need to sew the zipper to another strip of cloth and then sew that cloth to the edges of the bag. That way the zipper doesn't catch on the lining and the purse top doesn't become skinnier when it's zipped up. Is this clear as mud? :XD: Would you believe she doesn't even sew?  She's just observant.

That is darling. You did a great job. I still am afraid to try a zipper. Thanks for sharing.

this is so cute you did a teriffic job on your wallet I always have trouble with zippers I avoid them when ever possible. You said you have a Brenina you can slide off your plastic table and use your free arm I have a clear piecing foot I use all the time so I can see where I am with this foot you also have the ability to change needle positions with
your machine to make it closer to edge .just a few thoughts
hope this helps I have a new Bernina also so still in learning mode but wow what a great machine and fun to play with

I bought an expensive Husqvarna Viking embroidery machine 2 years ago and just used it for the first time last weekend.

Did you insert the zipper before you put the bag together?
