I recently bought the bobbin genie teflon washers that you add to your bobbin when FMQ. I got the large size for my tin lizzie and the smaller size for my regular sewing machine. So far I like them for my tin lizzie. I haven't tried them in my reg sewing machine. They say they eliminate birdsnests on the back of the quilt when changing directions when FMQ.Has anyone else ever used them? how did you like them?

They prevent static from building up in the bobbin case and that is what causes a lot of the bird nesting from backlash. Changing directions too fast will cause other problems like breaking threads and skipped stitches. I use the Genies in all my machines even the plastic bobbin ones. If I take the paper off the pre wounds I put the thread right on top of the Genie. I have been using them for many years now. They use to be made for industrial machines and just about every floor demo machine had them in the bobbin. I use to have a co worker that owned a sewing factory. He taught me more about sewing machines then I will ever need to know. I would bring old thrift store machines to him and he would go through and explain all about them to me while he fined tuned or fixed them when our work was done. He gave me a bag of the Genies before they were called Genies.

I really LOVE them for all my vertical bobbin machines.

I tried them on my 201 and 401 and they don't work, but for the vertical bobbins, they're really magic.

This picture shows the difference with the back of my work - I was quilting some placemats just for practice in small stippling when the washers came in an order. I popped one in and the difference was immediate and pretty obvious. :) The back of the one on the right is after I put the washer in.

The difference is even more dramatic in larger designs like feathers and flowers.

Wow, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I didn't notice a difference in my machine. I've got a Viking Sapphire with drop in bobbin. I'm wondering if it's because the shape of the bobbin is contoured. It's thicker in the middle and narrower at the edges.
